Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how BizMox (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use bizmox.com and related services.
1. Who we are
BizMox operates a local business directory and related tools. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account data: name, email, password (hashed), optional phone, profile details.
- Business listing data: business name, address, phone, website, hours, categories, descriptions, media, and similar public business details — submitted by you, claimed by you, or obtained from publicly available sources.
- Communications: messages you send via contact forms, claim flows, support, or marketing preferences.
- Payment data: limited billing metadata from our payment processors (we do not store full card numbers on our servers).
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, referring URLs, and similar diagnostics.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see our Cookie Policy.
- Reviews and UGC: ratings, text, photos, and related metadata you choose to post.
- Social login data: if you sign in with Google or another provider, we receive basic profile identifiers permitted by that provider.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Operate, secure, and improve the directory and account features.
- Publish and update business listings and related public pages.
- Process claims, verifications, and paid upgrades.
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support.
- Send service notices; send marketing only where permitted and with an unsubscribe option.
- Detect fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
- Analyze aggregate traffic and product performance (analytics).
4. Public directory information
Business listing fields that are intended to be public (name, address, phone, website, hours, categories, descriptions, etc.) may be shown on BizMox and indexed by search engines. If you are a business owner, claiming your listing is the best way to control how your public profile appears.
Publishing a business phone or email on a public listing does not authorize third parties to send unlawful spam. See our Acceptable Use Policy.
5. Sharing
We may share information with:
- Service providers (hosting, email delivery, SMS, payments, analytics, security) under contractual obligations.
- The public, for information you choose to make public or that is published as part of a directory listing.
- Business contacts, when you submit a lead or inquiry intended for that business (where that feature exists).
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor entity in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy’s spirit.
6. International visitors
We may process data in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. If you access the Service from elsewhere, you understand your information may be transferred to those locations.
7. Retention
We retain information as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and security requirements. Account data is generally kept while your account is active. Public listing history may persist in backups or archives for a limited period after deletion requests, as technically required.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update many account fields in your dashboard, claim and edit listings you control, and unsubscribe from marketing emails.
To make a privacy request, email [email protected] with enough detail for us to verify and fulfill the request. We may need to authenticate you before acting.
California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding “personal information,” including the right to know, delete, and opt out of certain “sales” or “sharing” for cross-context advertising if we engage in those activities. We do not sell personal information for money. If our analytics or advertising practices constitute “sharing” under California law, you may request opt-out via [email protected].
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The Effective date will change when we do. Material changes may be highlighted on the Service.
